blouses - they're about as feminine as it gets and a must-have in your closet. what i love most about a good blouse is it's versatility. whether worn buttoned up, tucked into a pencil skirt or slacks, tied at the waist with some cut-off tattered jean shorts, or let lose as seen in this look, they can be polished, relaxed, whimsical, or edgy. they come in a variety of graphic & floral prints, brights & neutrals.
i went simple here with a cream color (love the sholder detail & gold buttons), then added a pop with my rings and clutch in the ever so popular winter color, burgundy.

we had a fantastical time celebrating hollywood's biggest night! here are some ideas on how to bring a bit of pop to your next oscar party...
the fashion // there's no better time than the oscars to pull out that fabulous dress that's been in the back of your closet waiting to make it's grand entrance. black & gold, chevron sequins, sheer lace, and patent leather pumps helped us in channeling that inner hollywood starlet. oh and ps, meet my hot friend becky. :)
dress // magenta boutique (my husband found this little gem for me when we went here!)
heels // zappos
earrings // aldo (similar) loving these and these
ring // aldo a little in love with this one
the spread // choose your favorite tapas. we went with an italian theme and made pizza crescent rolls, toasted ravioli, garlic bread, and a yummy salad. next, pick a few fun games. oscar bingo was big hit! (i made the bingo dots using a hole punch and scrapbook paper), and the voting ballots brought some friendly competition to the evening (printables found here). we also lined the stairs with red balloons which brought the "red carpet" to life as our guests entered. wrap it all up with a cake made of oreos and some movie candy classics.
the bits of pop // since that's what this is all about! we made our own little cocktail using blood orange soda, champs, and of course a couple gummi bears. grab some tinsel, skewers, and a hot glue gun and you've got yourself a little party in a glass! over on the fashion side of things, to give your look that final touch, add a fabulous colored cocktail ring. it's as simple as that. :)
until next year, as siskel & ebert would say... "we'll see you at the movies!"
so, i have a confession to make... this girl wore white after labor day. #gasp
i've never really followed that rule much, so i apologize to whoever made it. :)
i think white can be so fun to wear, especially with spring right around the corner. it achieves a clean and crispness unlike any other color. with this look, i kept it winter-y while balancing the fresh white with a rich colored paisley shirt and cozy mustard sweater.
also, there are two new additions to my arm party. gifted to me by my sister from an adorable boutique called, willows in vancouver, wa. i'm really excited about these! i love the daintiness, the sparkle, and of course, the cross. they are so lovely and can be stacked for even more of a statement.
i hope to get more!
and how beautiful is this place? it's just down the road from where we live and every time we drive by there is a flock of canadian geese just grazin away. another reminder of God's grace & handiwork that i'm so blessed to see daily.
have a wonderful tuesday!
my very favorite part of our suncadia weekend was spent at the winery, swiftwater cellars. built in the middle of a historic coal mine alongside the cascade mountains, the grounds were stunning. cozy fireplaces, floor to ceiling window views, exposed wood beamed ceilings, and of course, really yummy wine. we sat for hours sipping, chatting, and relaxing.
wineries are known for holding lovely events and have just as much of an outdoor experience as an indoor one. so i wanted to wear something classy, comfortable for lounging, yet warm enough for walking outside and amidst the underground cellars. i chose a faux fur vest for the statement piece, an emerald green belt for the pop, jeans for the comfort, and the wedges to dress it up a bit without killing my feet.
if you're wondering what to do for valentine's day weekend, plan a little getaway for some winter wine tasting, and wear something fabulous. <3
cheers! looking forward to going back this summer ...in shorts and sandals. :)

and if you decide to bring your husband/boyfriend on this valentine's wine tasting excursion ;), he can wear something like this...
loving the navy sweatshirt with the quilted cognac shoulder detail.
have a happy day all you lovebirds! <3
this past weekend we went on a little adventure to suncadia, a resort tucked away in the mountains about an hour east of seattle. it was beautiful!! sunny!! snowy!!! and there was wine tasting. #yum before heading back to the real world, we bundled up for a little playing in the snow and made a snowman...named sam. :)
more colored pants from the hubs. i'm loving this rich green color with the navy sweater -- very nautical-esque. a pair of sperries would add a nice touch as well. now we just need to find a boat... :)

i have a whole new appreciation for tights these days. not only do they cover up the blinding whiteness that is, my legs (you're welcome), but they keep said legs warm on those winter days when all i wanna do is dress up a little. tights paired with a skirt is timeless, classy, and comfortable. here i went with a basic black tight with a pop of red in the skirt. you can easily switch it up and do a black/grey/navy patterned skirt with some fun berry or flame colored tights to be bold. and how fabulous is this faux fur sweater? another added layer for warmth in the winter. i chose a neutral with texture so the skirt still popped.
thank you for stopping by!

to top off this amazing week, i was asked to be a brand ambassador for a new online jewelry & accessories boutique, caroline g. this basically means i will receive discount codes to share with all of you and get to wear their products to help grow the brand. how fun is that?!
there's one piece in particular that is sweeping the nation. it's called the bubble necklace -- you may have heard of it. :) it's fabulous and it's everywhere. i love how this boutique puts a different spin on the original by recreating the style a few different ways. an example, these earrings. they're like a mini version of the necklace. they come in 6 different colors and couldn't be a more perfect bit of pop... no pun intended.
check out their website and be sure to enter "ERIN" at checkout for 15% off your entire order!
happy shopping and happy weekend.

i learned pretty quickly once december hit, that the only way to survive a winter in the pacific northwest is to layer. it's simply a must when you're moving from overheating indoors to temps below freezing outdoors. layering personifies versatility and the key is to prevent the bulky look by sticking with lighter layers underneath. here i wore a thin white blouse with length as the base, added some pop and texture with the flannel, then topped it off with a chunkier neutral sweater.
what are your biggest challenges when it comes to layering?
