more layering comin atcha from the hubs. he chose a collared shirt for his light layer, added a basic v-neck sweater, and a pop of color with the puffy orange vest for added warmth. loving his maroon colored kicks too he got as a christmas gift.
ps... how beautiful is this place? we went for a quick day trip to coeur d'alene, idaho to scout the course for jordan's next ironman race coming up in june. what a gorgeous and quaint little town. excited to go back!
mercury glass & burlap // an unlikely combo, but it works! since getting married a little over a year ago, we've been faced with the challenging search for our perfect home décor style. moving twice didn't really help with that process, but now that we have settled a bit, i think we've finally got it... rustic chic! this lamp and shade combo is the essence of just that and combines everything we love, a little cozy country and a little sophisticated sparkle.
for all you sparkle lovers like me, here's a way to wear sequins to the office without being too over the top. pair a color/patterned collared work shirt with a neutral sequin top, black pants, and neutral booties for a classy outfit that still pops. hair up adds a nice professional touch as well.
(it was definitely 30 degrees when we took these pictures...i've really got to find somewhere inside to shoot!)

ok, i promise after this, the christmas-y clothes posts are done... for now :) with this outfit, i mixed texture, basics, and color by pairing these lace overlay pants with a basic black sweater and statement accessories for the 'pop' in the necklace & purse. i dressed it up with some suede bootie heels, but it could easily be worn with flats as well. overall super comfy, festive, and great for an at home christmas dinner with the husband's family.

the classic plaid shirt... it comes in about a million different color combos, can be found anywhere, and doesn't need to be styled with much as it makes quite the statement all by itself. must be why i love it so much... simple, yet still pops.

how fabulous are these booties?? super comfy, the wine color is right on trend, and the best part... they're on sale for $9.99! thank you forever 21. mine arrived in the mail yesterday and i can't wait to style them. i'm thinking skinnies and a chunky sweater for date night, or maybe a blazer with tuxedo pants for work... stay tuned!
what's up this weekend? we're going snowboarding with friends! i'll be one giant lump of achy-ness come monday... but these shoes will make it better. :)
cheers everyone! and thanks for stopping by.

i'm just a tad bit obsessed with this outfit. i got the fringe skirt months ago with christmas in mind and when i saw this post from fashion blogger atlantic-pacific, i knew just how i was going to wear it. hooray for inspiration!
we had such a special night! i got to sing with my brother and sister for the christmas eve service at church, went out to a lovely dinner, and drove around looking at christmas lights...the skirt can be worn anywhere people. :)
(ps...i was well on my way to having the full blown flu here, so the pics aren't the best, but you get the idea.)
and here's an extra bit of what i did for my wrapping paper this year. i used basic brown package paper and hot-glued festive colored poms and ribbon to it. everything was purchased from michaels. it was so fun being crafty!
and just because they are so dang fabulous, meet my family. oh how i miss them already!
let's rewind a little, shall we? i'm in denial that christmas is over #surprisesurprise, so i'm going to make it last as long as possible. :) the next couple posts will feature outfits worn at some of our holiday celebrations in cali. this was christmas eve at jordan's parents house...
