this sweet ring hasn't left my finger since husband surprised me with it as we braved the after christmas shopping. he spotted the little thing and thought i should have it. :) i can't think of a more meaningful first 'pop' of the year as it so simply yet boldly represents everything this life is about to me, the greatest gift of all, Jesus. this year i resolve to never forget how much i am loved and submit each day/challenge/decision/fear to his mighty grip, then watch the blessings flow. if 2013 is anything like last year, oh it's gonna be good.
have a super fabulous weekend everyone!

if there's anything i love to do, it's c e l e b r a t e. without a doubt, champagne of all shapes, sizes, and flavors is ever stocked in my fridge for this very reason. celebrating to me is rejoicing in life's blessings no matter how tiny or large. well friends, it's time to do just that... what an incredible year of change, challenges, faith, and unexpectedly wonderful growth it has been.
thank you all for following along and taking a peek into my every days. i'm excited to see where this little blog takes me in 2013! even if it just leads to a fuller closet... :) cheers!
and now for the countdown...

i'm going to be taking a few days off from the blog to celebrate our precious savior's birth with my family in California. we're starting the very long 20 hour drive tonight! say a little prayer for safety through the snowy mountains and rainy roads. thank you sweet friends and always remember...
have a verry merry, blessed, and sparkly christmas!! squish someone you love.
here's photo shoot 3 of 4 with taylor-k photography! we went to downtown long beach for this one, just a block away from where jordan lived when we met...oh the sweet memories made in this town. :)
polka dots + peplum, layering + chunky boots -- using festive colors and mixing textures & patterns was my goal in styling this shoot. we're obsessed with the urban feel of the shots and even snatched one up for our christmas cards. which one do you think it is?? i used minted.com for the card design this year and couldn't be happier with how they turned out. the quality is perfection and the design, so us.
happy almost christmas everyone!! eee!!
one of my all-time favorite christmas pastimes is listening to my big sister reading christmas stories as we made our giant pillow bed on christmas eve. "twas the night before christmas" was the ultimate classic. this shoot with taylor-k photography took me back to everything cozy and child-like on the night before christmas.
say hello to the newest addition to my living room. what was once a bare wall over our fireplace is now the home of this fantastical thing...a 'piece of pop' to a T. as soon as we brought it into the house, it became a focal point. hang it in an entry way, over a bed or the bathroom sink. it's just that fabulous...and it's gold. i mean.
merry christmas to me.

we had the absolute pleasure of shooting with the talented taylor-k photography when we went home for thanksgiving. she planned 4 different christmas themed shoots, so i thought i'd feature one each post over the next few days. up first...50's vintage. pearls & pleats, argyle & slacks, cookies & milk, a classic vintage stove, and of course, those lovely stepford smiles...

how handsome does this one look?? i learned to tie a bow-tie about a month ago, and now i kind of have a problem. jordan is now well on his way to owning a 3rd from never before even entertaining the thought. i love their classy look and j.crew-ish feel. there are so many colors and textures to add just the right amount of festive pop to your guy's casual or fancy look.
it started pouring about halfway through our little shoot, hence the wet spot's on husband's blazer. strange, i know, that never happens here...
i mean, does it get more christmas-y than this? i was a little giddy putting this outfit together because, as i'm sure you're figuring out, i'm obsessed with sparkle and i'm obsessed with christmas...2 things this look features. i found this sequin top while shopping at the outlets with the girls and thought it was a great festive piece to add to the winter wardrobe...holiday work parties, plays, christmas eve service at church, all perfect places to wear it. to dress it up, wear a skirt with some black tights and heels. what's your favorite holiday outfit?
