since we arrived to washington back in may, i have felt like quite the frump when it comes to night-time cozy attire. in cali, i could throw on a pair of pj shorts, a sweatshirt, still feel cute, and call it a day. but there is one little problem with that here in the pacific northwest...you see, it get's freezing at night...like the real deal below 32 degrees Fahrenheit freezing. so shorts, they ain't gonna happen. this weekend i got fed up with the layers upon layers of randomness and found this little gem. a furry, hooded night time pj sweatshirt...genius.
have an extra comfy & cozy weekend everyone!

that smile. *sigh
husband has been fighting a yucky cold lately. he doesn't get sick often, but when he does, it's not pretty. i love getting to take care of him. his stuffy nose braved the cold and made the memories of leavenworth extra holly & jolly...
this past weekend, we went on yet another washington adventure about 2 hours away to a tiny town named leavenworth at the base of the cascade mountains. every year they kick off the most wonderful time of the year with a lighting of the town. literally there was not one stone left un-lit! carolers sang on the street corners, and people dressed in christmas costumes lined the street for photo ops...it was almost as amazing as disneyland at christmastime...almost. and yes, that is snow at my feet. :)
husband and i got to play lumberjacks for a day and went a huntin' to cut down the perfect christmas tree at this adorable tree farm in issaquah. there was a bonfire, hot apple cider, christmas music playing, and little elves running around in santa hats helping strap trees to all the cars. for this cali-girl, it was a christmas tree hunting dream come true.
temp was in the high 30's (felt like -30's), so bundling up was a must. puffy vests are a great go-to if you'll be out in the cold for a long period of time, and a good waffle shirt (thermal) can do wonders for warmth as well.
have you gotten your tree yet?! we ended up picking a 7 foot noble fir. and cutting it down was everything i thought it would be! "timberrrr!!!" ladies and gentlement, meet wilbur...
he's so cute!
oh the statement necklace...so beautiful and bold, one of my most favorite ways to add a little sparkle & pop to any outfit. i think it's important to make a statement in your fashion and bring it to life in a unique way and a statement necklace is a great way to do that. there are countless designs out there, one for ultimately every look.
i just bought this fabulous piece from ily couture, on sale now via living social for only $16! there are 6 colors to choose from, but i thought the green was perfectly christmas-y.
burgundy, oxblood, maroon, crimson, wine, ruby, etc. it's everywhere. the biggest color trend of the season. and this is how i wore it.
ps...this is one of my all time favorite places on earth, my in-laws backyard. so many fun memories were made here while living in san diego...it was only fitting to do a shoot when we visited for thanksgiving.
i love colored pants! and you guys out there can pull them off too! they're a great way to break from the common earth-tones everyone owns. pair them with a pattern on top, chucks on bottom, and you've got yourself quite the casual but cool outfit.
looks like someone's ready to eat some turkey...
when i think thanksgiving day attire, i think comfy, warm, autumn toned clothes (with a flexible waistband to make room for that extra piece of pie). :) here's my attempt at bringing that look to life this past turkey day. neutral brown sweater and a pop of yellow in the pants, broken up with a grey polka dot patterned blouse, and there you have it.
you may also notice some roots missing... so thankful for diane of lavish styling for getting rid of those unpleasant things. if you live in the orange county, cali area, go see her and her fabulous assistant kami at salon lujon! she's been styling my hair since 7th grade and it's hard to imagine going to anyone else. i mean, i do travel 1,000 miles to see her...
have a happy day friends!
so, this is where the blog takes a little turn...i'm slowly going to introduce my new found love for interior design, hence this week's piece of pop -->
i've been obsessing over this tan knit pouf for quite some time. every trip i'd take to target this past summer i'd see it there staring back at me as if it were saying, "please buy me, i will look so great right next to the fireplace against that boring blank wall and provide a bit of extra fabulous seating when your friends come over for those 'just dance 4' parties..." anyways, it wasn't in the budget at the moment, so i ignored it's tempting cries and it eventually when away...sad day.
well, this week, i flew home to california for the big thanksgiving celebration with my family, went upstairs to drop off luggage and POUF!! (had to), there it was! plopped on the floor of my old bedroom with a note on top from my sweet sister. she surprised me!!! now my living room has the most perfect addition. can't wait to see the look i'll get carrying that thing on the plane...
hope you all had a lovely time celebrating thankfulness yesterday. and for those of you out braving the black friday shopping...bless you...i'll be getting a pedicure. :)
there is no doubt the tribal trend has been huge this year. mixing strong graphic prints with warm earthy tones such as black, brown, deep red, and orange, is a great way to bring the look to life. add natural accents like the feather earrings seen here or an arm party consisting of wooden bangles would be a great touch too. i just love this look, especially for the fall months and this thanksgiving holiday.
speaking of which, just thought i'd share a few bits of what i am most thankful for...
~my faith...the Lord loving little me and dying so that i may be free
~my family, especially my loving and beyond supportive husband
~fashion, i mean
~and all of YOU!
thanks for reading. have a happy and blessed thanksgiving.
