2014 Blog Posts
i know, i'm late! i've got about 4 other half-completed posts to finish as well. goodness, i just can't keep up these days. but i'm learning that's all part of the greatest job i've ever known -- patience with myself through the simply difficult things, humility in slowing down, and how to truly be still and know. thank you Jesus for choosing me to be stretched and blessed like this.
i'm obsessed with this little girl. can't think of a better way to say it. beautifully unique & strong -- fearfully & wonderfully made. her smile fills my soul and it is well.
here are a few of my favorites from her 3 month photo shoot with the uhmazing
jessica & jacob mariano.
k so maybe that was more than a few. i'm now officially that oversharing mom. ;)
emma ray // meaning: whole, restoration, radiant
oh the countless ways the Lord has restored me through this pregnancy and in gifting us this precious little person to care for.
sweet mini emma came to us rather quickly on friday, december 20th just 5 days before her due date of christmas day. her head had been positioned down and ready to go for weeks prior, so it wasn't a surprise how fast things progressed. i had a terrible night of restless sleep and discomfort the night before and woke up to a morning of some bleeding and lots of cramping. oh, but there was freshly fallen snow!! ;) still wasn't sure if it was the real deal or not!
well, 2:30pm rolls around and i feel it for the first time...that holy crap, give me something to squeeze/pinch/punch/grab/bite, preferably my husband's arm/hand/face/ear/leg, kind of contraction. i proceeded to labor at home with those contractions for about 3 hours until they were 4 minutes apart and then it was off to the hospital!
i was dilated to about 5/6 cm when we arrived and between then and getting settled in our birthing suite, christmas lights hung too!, i was already at 7 cm. eeps!! by 11pm, i was fully dilated, water had broken, and we were ready for pushing! the nurse said it being our first that it would probably take a good 2 hours to push her little self out so, we were fully prepared for a 12-21 babe. 11:30pm hit and we start pushing... 29 minutes later, we heard emma's sweet cries for the first time. i think she knew there was snow on the ground and didn't want to miss it. :) i immediately noticed her dimples, yes, there's 2! one more than mamma. and that head of hair?? i mean. probably my favorite part is her little elf ear...so perfectly imperfect.
we soaked in every second of that indescribable moment. and oh my, the feeling of holding her close for the first time... absolutely nothing like it. it's true what they say, i've been forever changed.
pictures by kristal joy photography // Ems was a little squirmy stinker the day of the shoot, so we didn't get as many of her as we would have liked. hoping to get together with kristal soon for a few more! stay tuned. :)
if you haven't already noticed, it's blog catch-up week for me!
today i am posting some, ok a lot, of pictures from our maternity shoot with kristal joy photography. i was 33 weeks along at this point and i'm not going to lie, i miss the bump! i love the crisp fall-ish feel of these and her creativity in capturing such a sweet time of our lives.

proof... it's amazing how you can go from such pain to such contentment so quickly! specifically in 3/4 minutes. :) #ouch
